Exterior Signage
Building mounted, freestanding, directional, and electronic message signage, including illuminated systems, for when your signage matters.
These are the exterior signage types we’re asked to deliver most frequently, covering the majority of building, site, and on-premise signage needs. In practice, many projects also include illuminated signage such as lightbox signs, cabinet signs, blade signs, and other internally or externally lit sign types that are commonly used for storefronts, building identification, and site visibility. These elements are often combined with channel letters, dimensional lettering, or freestanding signage to create a complete exterior signage package that works across different distances, lighting conditions, and viewing angles.
Bold, Customizable, and Illuminated
Channel Letters
Channel letters are one of the most common and effective forms of building-mounted exterior signage, especially for storefronts, offices, and single-tenant buildings. Designed to be visible day and night, they provide clear identification and maximum exposure while efficiently fulfilling their primary purpose.
Bailey Sign designs and fabricates custom channel letter signage using durable materials and energy-efficient LED illumination. Options include traditional front-lit letters, halo-lit configurations, open-face channel and hybrid approaches, allowing illumination to be expressed in different ways depending on the building, brand, and desired visual impact.
Illuminated channel letters can also be configured with electronic controls that allow color and lighting effects to be adjusted as needed, providing flexibility for branding updates, special events, or changing conditions. Each sign is sized, spaced, and mounted to suit the building façade, viewing distance, and lighting environment, with careful attention to alignment, wiring concealment, and long-term performance.

Endless Typography Options
Channel letters can be fabricated in-house and produced in a wide range of typefaces, allowing typography to be carried through accurately at architectural scale.

Dimensional Letters
Dimensional letters provide a clean, understated option for exterior building identification, often selected where signage should integrate closely with the architecture rather than stand out through illumination or scale. They are commonly used on professional, institutional, and design-forward buildings where restraint and material presence matter.
These letterforms are available in a range of materials, finishes, and mounting methods, allowing them to be adapted to different façade types and architectural conditions. Dimensional letters are typically non-illuminated and rely on form, spacing, and material contrast to achieve legibility and visual clarity.
Stand out from the Street
Integrated Building Signage
Integrated building signage brings together multiple exterior sign types into a cohesive on-premise signage system. This may include primary building identification, logos and branding elements, secondary signage, and supporting features designed to work together visually and functionally.
Depending on the application, integrated signage systems may combine channel letters, dimensional letters, panel signage, and externally illuminated elements to suit the building, site conditions, and brand requirements. Care is taken to coordinate scale, placement, materials, and lighting so the signage reads as part of the architecture rather than a collection of individual signs.
These systems are commonly used for business signage, multi-tenant buildings, and facilities where consistent branding and clear identification are required across multiple exterior elements.
Your Business’s Landmark Statement
Monument Signs
When people think about your business, institution, or industrial park, the monument sign at the front of the property is often what they picture. As the most enduring freestanding sign on a site, it’s the one that shows up in photos, directions, and news stories, and the one people use to describe where they’re going. More than anything else, it becomes the public face of the business or institution.
Monument signs can be designed for strong visibility or a more subtle presence, depending on the setting and the impression you want to make. Some use internal illumination for clear, even readability, while others rely on softer lighting to highlight materials, form, and architectural detail without drawing unnecessary attention.
For locations that need flexibility, monument signs can also incorporate electronic message centers. This allows information to change over time while the primary identity stays consistent, supporting announcements, wayfinding updates, or time-sensitive messages without changing the character or role of the sign.
Maximum Visibility
Pylon Signs
When your location needs to be seen from a distance, a pylon sign helps people find you sooner and decide where to turn. For retail centers, business parks, and multi-tenant sites, it’s often the first point of recognition along a busy road.
Pylon signs are designed to stay clear and readable at speed, with lighting and layout focused on visibility day and night. Tenant identification, branding, and messaging are organized so drivers can quickly understand what’s there without slowing down or guessing.
Dynamic, Eye-Catching, and Energy-Efficient
Electronic Message Centers
When you need to stand out in a visually crowded environment, electronic message centers are the most eye-catching form of exterior signage. They draw attention quickly, deliver maximum exposure, and cut through the surrounding signage noise along busy roads, active sites, and building façades.
Electronic message centers can be integrated into monument signs, pylon signs, or mounted directly on buildings. They allow messaging to change in real time while the primary identity remains consistent, making them well suited for announcements, events, alerts, or time-sensitive information where visibility and immediacy matter most

Campus & Urban Wayfinding
In larger or more complex environments, wayfinding signage helps people move through a site without confusion or frustration. It reduces missed turns, unnecessary questions, and the feeling of being lost in unfamiliar spaces.
Campus and urban wayfinding systems combine directional signage, identification, and site markers that are designed as part of the built environment. Whether across a campus, downtown district, or multi-building property, these systems support navigation while reinforcing the character, materials, and architectural language of the space.
