The Children’s Museum and Theatre of Maine is an immersive interior environment designed to encourage exploration, creativity, and learning. The signage and graphics for this project were developed to function as an integral part of the experience, supporting orientation and accessibility while contributing to the playful and architectural character of the space.
Welch Sign fabricated a comprehensive interior signage and graphics package that includes identity signage, ADA compliant signage, wayfinding, donor recognition elements, and integrated environmental graphics. In addition, the scope included custom architectural elements designed to work in concert with the interior finishes and exhibit spaces. Each component was carefully fabricated to align with the scale, color, and material intent of the interior environment.
Graphics and signage were produced with a high level of precision to ensure clarity, durability, and consistency across a wide range of surfaces and conditions. ADA signage was fabricated to meet accessibility requirements while remaining visually cohesive with the broader system. Donor recognition elements were thoughtfully integrated into public areas, acknowledging contributions in a way that feels natural to the space rather than separate from it.
Throughout the project, fabrication decisions were guided by performance, finish quality, and long term durability in a high use public environment. The resulting interior signage and graphics system supports intuitive navigation, reinforces identity, and enhances the overall experience for visitors, allowing the architecture and exhibits to remain the primary focus.
