Charles River Speedway is a reimagined historic site in Brighton, MA that brings together food, retail, public gathering space, and creative uses within a former industrial complex. The redevelopment required a signage system that could support wayfinding across multiple buildings while respecting the character, scale, and materiality of the original structures.
Bailey Sign provided a coordinated signage package that includes wayfinding pylon signs, directories, dimensional steel lettering, and blade signs mounted perpendicular to building façades. Each element was designed to work as part of a cohesive system, guiding visitors through the site while reinforcing identity without disrupting the architectural rhythm of the campus.
Wayfinding pylons establish clear points of orientation at key arrival and circulation zones, helping visitors understand the site layout before moving on foot. Directories provide additional clarity within shared gathering areas, organizing tenant information in a way that is legible and intuitive. Dimensional steel letters were fabricated to complement the industrial character of the buildings, introducing depth and permanence while maintaining a restrained presence. Blade signs extend visibility along pedestrian paths and storefronts, improving identification within tighter corridors and active public spaces.
Material selection and fabrication details were guided by durability and contextual fit, ensuring the signage feels integrated rather than applied. The resulting system supports navigation, reinforces place, and contributes to a cohesive experience that balances contemporary use with the site’s historic roots
