Eastern Maine Medical Center is a large regional healthcare facility serving a diverse patient population, where clear communication and intuitive navigation are essential to daily operations. The signage for this project was developed to support wayfinding across complex interior and exterior environments while maintaining a composed and welcoming presence appropriate for a medical setting.
Bailey Sign provided a comprehensive signage package that included wayfinding, directories, donor recognition, custom identity signage, ADA compliant signs, and integrated wall graphics. Each component was designed as part of a cohesive system, ensuring consistency in typography, color, and hierarchy while allowing flexibility across departments and circulation zones. The goal was to make information easy to find and understand without adding visual clutter to already active spaces.
Interior signage and directories were positioned to support patient flow and reduce uncertainty at key decision points. Donor recognition elements were thoughtfully integrated into public areas, acknowledging contributions in a manner that feels respectful and architectural rather than ornamental. Custom identity signs and wall graphics extend the visual language throughout the facility, reinforcing place and orientation while contributing to the overall environment.
Materials and fabrication details were selected with durability, cleanliness, and long term performance in mind. Throughout the project, emphasis was placed on clarity, restraint, and integration with the surrounding architecture. The resulting system supports both function and experience, helping Eastern Maine Medical Center operate efficiently while providing a calm and navigable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
